Their square design makes them comfortable to hold. Material does not possess any defects or bubbles and is sturdy and clear. As the base stands, it is unbalanced and stable. A lot of care and attention was put into the design of the glassware. The glasses can be used as usual without being affected by it. There’s nothing visually appealing about it. To me, they are distinctive because of the square base and round top. Although they are very high quality, they can fit into any regular circle coaster.

Hi-ball or highballs are simple cocktails consisting of spirits and carbonated drinks served in an ice filled, tall glass with a low capacity.

Highballs are best described as short cocktails served tall, with ingredients ranging from 4oz to 4.5oz to create a maximum drink volume of 9.5 oz.

The traditional highball does not contain any citrus fruit juice, but that convention has been eroded with the addition of a modest amount of juice to such drinks as Rickeys, Collinses, and Fizzes

There are a multitude of highballs, as long as they are served in highball glasses with a capacity of 10 oz. or more, such as Scotch and soda, Gin and Tonic, whisky and ginger, and Vodka and Tonic. “Presbysterian” is a combination of scotch whiskey, soda, and ginger ale, whereas a “Gin Spider” is ginger ale, gin, and a dash of Angostura bitters

A famous story behind the highball glasses…

In the 1890s, the term Highball first appeared in a play, My Friend From India by Ha Du Souchet, in which a character named Erastus suggests that he have a Highball by mentioning “Jennings, bring me a highball of whiskey.” (enters Jennings)

In 1895, Chris Lawlor, the Mixicologist for the Burnet House in Cincinnati, included the recipe for a “Highball.”

Add a lump of ice to a thin ale glass; add syphon seltzer until it reaches the top of the glass, then pour in half a jigger brandy or whiskey

In the preceding pages, Lawlor illustrates a ” Brandy and Soda ” with instructions to pour one jigger brandy into a lemonade glass, add two or three chunks of ice, and drink one bottle of club soda. “Then comes the splendidly named Splitifier, an inexplicably named  Whiskey Highball. Lawlor’s Splificator, described by the learned David Wondrich as a ‘drunk’ in Irish by-word, is probably Irish whiskey with an ‘e’ in it.(Source)
